I completed my National Service in March 2016 and since I will be entering university in August this year, I had about 5 months to do whatever I like.
Two months had passed and in those two months, many things had happened and many had not but the highlight of it was that I had so much time for myself. It is amazing how much closure you can get with yourself when you take the time to sit down to think and write. I came to understand many things about myself but most notably, I was able to get a grip on my future goals. I have always been confused about what I really want to do in the future which led me to furiously read articles on Medium about finding the right careers, passions and how to lead life. I am young, still discovering life and full of enthusiasm but I guess, the main cause of my confusion was due to the inkling of fear at the back of my mind when I had to decide on my future. However, like many other things in life, my thoughts became clearer over time and I was finally able to make a decision.
I have much to learn. Every single day is an opportunity for me to learn and understand more about life. It is up to me to make use of the time productively. It is a journey that will continue on for a long time to come.
Looking back, those two months passed by in a flash but it changed my whole perspective on life. I have three months left before university begins and I still have much to accomplish. I cannot wait for what these three months have in store.
For those of you who have time to spare, do make use of the time to think. Think about anything at all from your past to your future and maybe even to the lessons that you have learned because it is unfortunate that in this era where busyness prevails, most of us do not set aside time to think.
